Chain Letters

An ongoing project with multiple strands and themes. Each Chain invites artists to respond to each other and further expand the sequence.

The First Chain

This chain begins with a disposable film camera and a set of instructions. Each participating artist is asked to take 3 photographs based on these instructions, and then pass the camera on to another artist with new instructions. Because of the analog nature of these cameras, there’s no way to know what photos have been taken without sifting through past instructions. The project becomes a detective’s game.
